Richard Hamilton Wines are reflective of the distinctive McLaren Vale region with its Mediterranean climate producing great value, fruit driven wines. The Hamilton family has been involved in winemaking and grape growing for five generations. Dr Richard Hamilton now continues his family’s long tradition of involvement in the wine industry.
The McLaren Vale vineyards are some of the oldest vines in the region. The vineyard that produces the Centurion Old Vines Shiraz was established in 1892. Grenache vines dating back to 1947 were planted by Richard’s father, Burton Hamilton, at Burton’s Vineyard. Shiraz was planted in 1963 and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1968. Dr Hamilton has since established additional vineyards of premium white wine varieties, Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
